5 games that involve paint that your child will love

  • Emily Smith

Painting is the perfect activity to inspire creativity and your kids are sure to love getting messy as they mix up the colours and create their vibrant vision. But painting doesn’t just have to be about getting arty, there are plenty of games you can throw into the mix too.

These five paint games are sure to go down a storm with children who want to try something a bit different this summer.

1. Team drawing

This arty game is super simple but a lot of fun for everyone involved. Set up a paint station and give each child just 30 seconds to paint before they hand the brushes over to the next to add to, you never know what you’re going to end up with as creative visions will do doubt differ. It’s a game you can do with pencils and crayons too when you’re on the move.

2. Blindfold challenge

Get your little one working together with this challenging game. In pairs, blindfold one child while showing the other an image you want recreating. The kid that’s seen the goal picture must describe it to the other – you’re likely to end up with a very abstract painting but they’ll have a blast creating it.

3. Finger puppets

Put on an incredible show with painted finger puppets. With the ability to wash off and repaint, your kids will be able to create as many different characters as they need, from gallant knights to fearsome monsters. It perfect for inspiring imagination and creative play.

4. Pictionary with a twist

If your family already love playing the classic board game Pictionary, why not give it a twist with paint? It’s simple to set up and you’re sure to have lots of laughs in the process – you might even find you have a quick draw artist on your hands. It’s a good idea to set up your different colours with individual paintbrushes to avoid the paints getting mixed up in the haste.

5. Car racing

When you’ve got a car mad kid in the family, this game will be lots of fun. By adding paint to the wheels of the usual rolling toy cars, you’ll create a race map that’s worthy of hanging on the wall – and see if anyone cheated by cutting corners! It’s a simple game that even the youngest members of family will enjoy.
